A cooperative sale featuring talented local artists

Juan Fried

As an architect and artist, I’m always looking for the interrelationships of natural and industrial forms and structures. My work is made from sheets and wires of partly oxidized recycled sterling silver, brass, and found steel — cut, folded, fused, and hammered with natural patinas to make wearable sculptures based on the dynamic geometric and architectural shapes of rural buildings — containers that process seasonal cycles of food, water and fuel — man-made extensions of the natural systems of streams, soils and plants that define the Minnesota rural environment in which I live.
