Patsy Dew was already an accomplished photographer when she discovered the joy of turning her printed images into artist-books. She was intrigued by the interplay of image, word and form. At one point she sought a way to contain a series of tiny books; the answer was a box. From there, she explored all shapes a “box” could take — octagonal, like a pyramid, with a reversible lid, or with a lid that could be extended above. Recently Dew has been working with materials that can be molded into round and curving shapes which are sculptural. All of her pieces include her original photographs.
